UFO & Paranormal Research and Investigation (last updated 20/07/08)

New Logo Design

We have been lucky enough to find a talented graphics artist who has designed our new logo! The new logo, which is sleek and contemporary, continues the SUFOR ethos.

A new advertising campaign will be launched in the near future and will include T-shirts, fliers, posters and more media interviews.

July Events Calendar

We hope to see everyone at our next group meeting which will be on the 21st of July at 7:30pm. The venue is the Kings Hotel, Wood Street, Old Town, Swindon, SN1 3BB.  The meeting will include a summary of the sightings for the month around the UK, cases from the Sufor investigation log and a discussion session.  All are welcome to the meetings regardless of what you believe.

Funds

We have set the prices for the tickets for Kevin Goodman and Nick Pope.  If you are able please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in these talks.

The membership fee has been set at a very reasonable £1.50 per month.  All funds raised are used to fund the lecture programme.

Don’t forget you can also donate to the group via the donate icon on the home page.

Sufor on the Radio

I will be appearing on WCR FM on the 21st of July.  WCR have been kind enough to invite me for the whole morning show as their studio guest. You can also hear us on Swindon 105.5fm on the 13th of July at 9:45am.

nowthatsweird.co.uk

Glastonbury radio has been good enough to invite me onto their hugely popular show on the 8th of August.  The show will air at 11pm and will run until midnight.

Book store open!

The book store has three sections.  This includes a recommended reading list which includes the works of Kevin Goodman, Steve Dewey and John Ries.

After much consideration I added a fortean book store powered by Amazon.  This decision was not taken lightly as it could be criticised as reducing the group ethos.  The book store is simply a fund generation mechanism to help fund the lecture programme and Sufor does not necessarily support the contents of any book listed.

August Group Meeting

A special guest will be attending the group meeting, where she will re-tell her alien encounter experience and take questions on the events she was witness to.

Summer Sky Watching – Some advice!

If you have been to other sky watches you will know this anyway.  If you have never been before you may find this useful.

Wear decent walking shoes or boots.  It can get muddy and the ground is uneven.

Water proof clothing is recommended.  The watch is out in the open and at the mercy of the British weather.

Bring a torch. It can get very dark.

A good idea is to bring a hot drink and perhaps something to eat.

Bring a camera or camcorder and a pen and paper.

Recording of any anomalies is critical and is the whole point of the adventure.

News Feeds

I have added up to date news feeds onto the Latest News page.  The feeds are unmolested and come direct from Google News and UFODigest.

UK a UFO Hotspot?

There have been a lot of sightings reported over the last month. Despite a certain national daily newspaper claims, all the sightings have been accounted for.  The aliens are not here – not yet anyway!

If you wish you can donate to the group to help our events programme.  Any size of donation is very welcome.

New sightings posted to the Investigation Diary. Updates to News and Video/Books pages.

29/06/2008

It's been a very busy month for us.  The group launch, media interest, venue and guest booking has taken a lot of time and effort.  We also had five reported sightings in June which will be posted very soon.

The Events page has been updated with the calendar until September.  You can now also purchase tickets for the lectures by Kevin Goodman and Nick Pope!

A word on recent UK wide events.

There has been much in the media recently concerning UFO sightings around the country.  South Wales police chasing UFO's and the Liverpool sightings to mention only two!  A certain national newspaper now has a UFO section and has set up a skywatching camp.

All this public attention is good isn't it?  We at Sufor hope so.  However, do not believe everything you read in the papers.  They need to sell copies and the stories they publish do have a certain slant to the data!

All of the sightings in the UK have had good explanations put forward for them.  Solar balloons and lanterns looking like the most likely cause for the majority of sightings.

The aliens are not coming - not yet anyway!

18/06/2008

Sufor launch day was a great success.  My thanks to everyone who turned up and especially to Kevin Goodman for helping with the launch.

I have revamped the Home page.  You can now subscribe to news updates, join the group or donate funds to help us continue with the Events and Education Programme.

I have updated the About page.

Four more sightings have been reported.  These will appear on the site in the next few days.

We have confirmed our venue as the Kings Hotel, Wood Street.  We will confirm dates and speakers as soon as possible and post them on the Events page.

 11/06/2008

Due to the media interest of the public launch of the group I have created a new link from the home page called Media.  This gives contact details and listings of our appearances.

Four sighting reports received that need investigation.

The SUFOR Summer Sky Watch has been postponed until July. Updates will be posted here when the new date is confirmed.

SUFOR has cleared all outstanding sighting reports.  The results of which have been posted on the Investigations page.

We featured on BBC Wiltshire lunchtime radio.  It was an interesting experience in which we were given the chance to discuss the UFO phenonema and to consider the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe.

More sightings have been reported to the SUFOR desk in May. This takes our total to five this month alone.
