Burnham-on-Sea (Brean) UFO Video
On the 11th of February the story of a cylinder-shaped object hovering over Brean was published after the video had been uploaded to the popular content sharing site YouTube.
Swindon UFO Research were contacted for comment on the video before the story hit the main newswire. At very short notice we watched the video and after a little research concluded that this was a type of balloon. We guided the researcher to a website which plainly showed these balloons in action and were confident that the real story behind this UFO would be published.
A few hours later the story broke and we were dismayed to find that our conclusions had been ignored and instead the air of mystery was perpetuated by the press release.
The story has now been picked up on many news sites with startling claims such as:
“Baffling UFO’ – Press associates.
“Aliens hover over campsite’ – The Sun.
There was nothing baffling about this video and there were no aliens.
Also quoted from the Sun coverage:
DRAMATIC film of a UFO buzzing over the British coastline sent experts into orbit today.
No it did not. I am not sure who these experts are, but the ones that are serious ufologists, researchers and investigators were not in orbit at all.
More Quotes:
“It has no visible sign of power – yet does not appear to be falling to earth.”
That is because it is a Solar Balloon.
There is no journalism here. The truth was known about this object, but it has been ignored. No-one has checked the accuracy of the report. The story has simply been replicated and replicated.
It is this kind of reporting that undermines serious research into this subject matter.
