Investigation

02/02/09: Initial thoughts match that of witness - in that it sounds like hot air balloon. The sun was setting at this time and the witness thoughts were that a balloon would not be flying at this time.

03/02/09: Contacted Cotswold balloon centre. They confirm they had nothing flying that night.

Description

Three witnesses saw an orange light, which twinkled. It sometimes appeared to be stationary, but generally was moving with the wind direction in a western direction. On using binoculars to view the object the witness saw a huge oblong shape above the light which was jet black in colour and reminded them of an upturned coffin. Estimated speed under 50 miles an hour.
